Has anyone found an inverter, with automatic transfer between line and battery power, similar to the Tripp Lite APS700HF that Twins Guy originally posted on TRT? (Link (http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87999)) I haven't been able to find anything that is a stand-alone product like the APS700HF, and I would rather not cobble together an inverter, charger and relay/switching device.
I have no problem paying ~$220 for such an inverter, but I figured I would see if there was anything comparably on the market.
Cheers,
Marty

I had a hard time finding a source as well but in that original thread someone posted a link that had them for sale. Not as cheap as Rich had posted but at least in stock......
OOps just checked not in stock anymore at buy.com

Yeah, I have checked there and just about everywhere else on their (Tripp Lite's) "Where to Buy" page. Everyone has them back-ordered, out of stock, or similar. No dice on eBay either...

The runtime chart at the bottom of the page is helpful; a Tunze Nanostream 6025 is about 8 watts, for reference. This is a stand alone unit, you do not have to connect any batteries. Not exactly what I was looking for, but interesting nonetheless.

Won't work for me likely won't provide a clean enough wave for an ac motor. Since 6025 is dc isn't going to matter. I need to replace a APS500 that the circuit board blew on and can't find parts for. With 2 deep cells it would keep my return pump going ( 28w) for 48hours. I already have the batteries just need to replace the unit.

Look for marine and RV inverter chargers. I'm sure Xantrex has a product that will work. I've been working with them on a project at work and it seems like they make one of everything in every size imaginable. It might just cost more than you were looking for.

At this point I'm just waiting for Buy.com to get more of those Tripp Lite inverters in stock. I have quite thoroughly scoured the internet for similar models but none appear to be exactly what I need at that good of a price. Aims and Xantrex appear to be two other good brand names, but neither makes a moderately priced inverter/ATS/charger like the APS700HF.
Just a note on what David mentioned about the Tunzes: Roger Vitko has said that the "older" models (6000,6055, 6100) will run on a modified sine wave just fine. The new nanostreams (6025,6045) will not run on a modified sine wave, they require a pure sine wave source. (RC link (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1127510&highlight=sine+wave)) I have not found any definitive answers on whether MaxiJets will run with a modified sine wave.

MJs are very durable pumps. While modified sine wave is not ideal, they can handle it pretty well.

FWIW:
If you search ebay with for aps* inverter charger (http://search-desc.ebay.com/aps-inverter-charger_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC6QQfromZR9QQfromZ R9QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQfstypeZ1QQftsZ2QQsabfmtsZ1QQsa catZQ2d1QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQsatitleZapsQ2aQ20inverte rQ20chargerQQsspagenameZSTRKQ3aMEFSRCHQ3aSRCH) you will see a handful of items other APS models that should work.
Granted the prices are not spectacular but they are available.
