View Full Version : Wahoo, my pair of Nemo clowns (Ocellaris) also spawned
Baaahh, this is their first spawn so they ate all the eggs:
The white dots on the side glass is what's left of the eggs. There were
maybe about 150 or so eggs, some on the side glass, some on the bottom
glass. The eggs were very small, a tad larger then pin head size, and
yellowish orange.

I'm a bit surprise the female is spawning already. I have only had her
for about 6 months and she's only been in this tank for maybe 2 months and
been with the male for 30 days. She killed the first male I put in with her.

Sweet!! Before the clowns spawned did they act different than normal? Just wondering because mine have never spawned, but I'm wondering if maybe they have and I'm just not looking in the right spotor something.

Things that I notice were:
The male will start to constantly clean a spot in preparation for the spawn.
1 or 2 days before spawning, the female will join the male in cleaning the
spot. The female stomach is very bloated all the time and just before
spawning, you will notice a tube extending from the female's lower abdomen.
Basically if you notice both your clowns digging real hard at a spot, they are
spawning or in the process of getting ready to spawn.

As of now, no plans yet. I need to feed them better food.
I've just been feeding them solely chop up table shrimp and formula one pellets.
I'm waiting for the 4th or 5th batch to see how the eggs turn out, if they get
better at laying eggs, I will probably give it a college try.

That's pretty cool!
How's the large RBTA doing?
I was aiming for a Capman size RBTA but unfortunately it split a few times
since I got it from you. I lost one in my tank upgrade, gave one away, and now have 4 clones left. For the number of RBTAs I ended up with I think I
got a GREAT deal :)

beng you wouldn't want to sell one of them if you still have one??

I have 5 pairs of clowns, each pair in it's own tank with one of these RBTA
so as of now, I have just enough to host my clowns. I'm feeding them
everyday so if they do split, I will give you a shout.

BengGlad to hear! Just hope that one stays large like the original. That's what was amazing about that one...how big it was compared to some of the others out there. Hopefully it'll settle down and grow big again.
If you ever raise fry, I'm sure I would like to buy one from you.
