Just an FYI for all you club members.
Pet Supplies Plus (one of our club sponsors) has salt on sale at their Burnsville Store. I spoke to them tonight and they said it was alright to post this info here on their behalf.
Instant Ocean 160 gal bucket $29.99 each
Instant Ocean 200 gal box $35.99 each
Reef Crystals 160 gal bucket $39.99 each
Reef Crystals 200 gal box $44.99 each
Sale runs through 3/31/11
They said they have plenty in stock, but if you are not in the south metro I would suggest calling first (just so I don't get blamed if they are out of stock)
They also had a pair of red-stripe cardinals and I think the male is holding eggs for any of you fish breeders out there.

very nice prices indeed, if we end up near Burnsville this weekend we'll have to grab a couple more boxes.
you cant delete the thread, just ask a MOD to move it to the other forum if you want to.
You should tell the new aquatics manager at PSP to post some more on the boards, we havent heard from PSP in awhile. Britt and I were making trips down there with some regularity when we had some updates from them.

Yea Erik, they said they haven't been very good about posting for a while now. They may start again soon now that they have a new saltwater manager there.

Anyone ever have or run sales on KENT?
not really, not a very popular salt.
IO will have sales from time to time, the popular higher grade salts like TM and Seachem have periodic and unfrequent sales.

is it the price of KENT? I've used it for years and always thought it was better than RC or IO. when looking at tests that have been posted online it's higher in everything over the other leading brands. It's very costly and I always thought that's what scares people off to other salts. Anyone have any info on salts? From what I've seen living up and down the east cost and visiting many LFS KENT has always been top shelf salt.
Would love to get some info..
Thanks all,

i have no experience with Kent, it isnt the price, Seachem is a bit more expensive than Kent and TM salt is more expensive than Seachem.
The readings dont usually play huge factor in my salt choices becouse no matter what level they are when i do the water change, ill still have to dose to maintain the levels where i want them. How much 1.025 water they will make for the cost, and how much residue they can create play a bigger part for me. RC has a wicked brown residue it can make, so i stear clear of it. Seachem has more natural nourishments in it so less additives are needed, im sure Kent is the same, but again, those nourishments get exhausted and youll still be dosing them weekly if you want them maintained.
TM has some wicked nice additives in it that help keep the water cleaner, and also has the higher nourishment content.
The extras in the Seachem / Kent / TM dont really justify to me the extra cost completely. I keep IO onhand at all times, and when seachem is on sale ill buy a bucket or 2 as it tends to make a bit more 1.025 and when the cost is similar to IO at regular price it makes sense economically.
I have never had problems with any of my corals, or maintaining any of my levels and i dont burn through 2 part to maintain either. everyone has their own thing, and im sure they have all sorts of differant justifications for it mostly from the manufacturers labels. Untill IO and Seachem cause problems for me that will justify the need to switch and spend more money, i dont see the need to fix something that isnt broken.

Just wanted to update on the salt supply.
Supply is still strong on the RC Boxes and Pails plus I am able to reorder through the end of March and keep up the sale prices.
The IOC pails have just about run out. I have an order coming next week, but the pricing might not come through... We may need to stop the sale short on IOC pails.
We still have strong supply on the IOC boxes so those should be fine through the end of March.

We used to stock Kent salt, but it sat around FOREVER on the shelf and we discontinued it. Pricing is usually rather high. Normal price for us would usually be about $65.99 for a 200 pail. Sometimes it goes on sale and we can sell it for (lowest) $49.99. Right now it is on sale and I could order some in and sell for the $49.99 price.
If anybody is interested, please call the store! 952-892-1090 and ask to do a special order. I need orders placed by noon on Monday 3/14 and delivery would be Wednesday 3/16.
I will require pre-pay for any order over $100.

I've got plenty of kent right now but I will for sure check in with you in the future on getting more salt. I'm a huge fan of the Kent salt mix and most likely one of a few in this area.
