How do I remove the top brace off a tank?

Anyone have a good suggestion on how to remove the top brace off a tank? Dang thing stuck solid with silicone.

extending razor nife up under it all the way around to loosen it? that always worked for me when i was replacing glass or re-sealing.

thanks, i'll have to try it and between that and brute force... hopefully it comes off.
