From April 7th, shortly after being introduced. Only 4 inches long maximum, with some tissue damage in some areas. (Thanks jquigley78!)

Finally, something we picked up at OD on Saturday. A coral with some history, it appears; thanks again Ed! And by the way, you can feed them! We dropped a few pellets around the coral and watched it slowly move them towards its mouth in the center. Very cool!

So the story goes...

The fungia was a hitchhiker on a piece of live rock many months ago. It started out as a dime sized 'polyp' growing off the live rock in one of the tanks and grew steadily to half-dollar size. At that point, Ed bumped it while moving rocks and it popped off, only breaking at the tiny bit of skeleton that was attached to the rock. So, Ed put it in the frag tank to grow it out (and sell it!), but no one was ever interested. He put it back into a normal tank after moving stores, where it sat next to a few other fungias of different flavors. Then we came along and bought it. :D

Lesson being: He got it for free, but it certainly cost a lot in food and lighting! The skeleton still has an odd shape to it because of the growth, it doesn't sit flat but wobbles like a top.

Alright, well I thought it was interesting at least... :book2:
