Product description:
It’s not everyday that the keystone fluorescent bulb maker Ultraviolet Lighting Co. (formerly URI) releases a new color flavor but the reefkeeping community is sure to take note of their latest production. Although the 75.25 bulb may have been received by ho-hum fanfare, we are very excited about the potential for the new 454 bulb. As you might have guesses, the 454 has an emission spectrum peak at 454nm which is smack dab in between the fluorescence excitation peaks of 420 and 470nm. Even if this bulb doesnt ping exact known fluorescence excitation peaks, this light should still bring out many colors which are largely under represented by most light spectrums available in the aquarium lighting market. We’ll report on the 454′s look once we get a couple review lamps over our tanks and the 454 in T5 and T12 is available now from UVL light bulb vendors.
I am currently using these bulbs on my Tek T5 6 bulb and I am very impressed with the "POP" I get. Don't get me wrong LED *Blues* still gives the best "POP" but these are probably the 2nd closest to them. I want to give you guys the opportunity to try these out as well. Feel free to setup an appointment with me to check them out at my shop to have a first hand look at how these light up.
