So, I bought a three polyp frag of trumpet coral yesterday, and I did the stupid and bought it with out prior research.
Thanks for any help.
I have some small frags of trumpet/candy cane as well. When I got them they weren't the happiest little guys, but over the last couple weeks they've really perked up, one especially that was almost pure white when I put him in, now he's strong as all the others. I target feed mine once or twice a week with BS mush at night once they get all their sweepers out. My lighting isn't the greatest(pc 192 watts), so I've got them pretty high up. They've been really strong for me so far, and I'm pretty much a noob. I haven't experienced much variation from SG 1.023, Ca 420, KH 120, 0 Nh4 NO2 NO3, pH 8.3. I don't really test for phosphates very often, but they've been zilch. pH used to swing at night when kalk drip finished, but now I run reverse light cycle on the fuge and it seems to be stable. I have had them fall once and moved them once other than that, and they produced some mucus which I just used a turkey baster to "blow" off. Now someone else will probably tell you all that I'm doing is crap. :biglaugh2: These are my first LPS.

trumpet corals are pretty hardy IMO, just make sure nothing elses sweeper tentacles are touching them, and keep your water quality decent and you should be fine with pc lighting or better.
FWIW, I hardly ever feed mine, and they grow like weeds :)

Yep. Just about one of the easiest LPS corals to keep as long as nothing bothers it or falls on it to sting it. Under PCs or VHOs especially, althought I have some acclimation type issues when using T5s where they really didn't like the amount of light.

what is BS mush? The coral look like they are acclimating really well. The opened upi this morning more than they did yesterday. I assume that's a good thing.
Thanks for the input

i will agree that they are very hardy. i have had mine drop so many times... i have had mine stung, which the have recovered.. and i have had them in a breathable bag for 40 hours without loosing any polyps. i like them :)
