It says that Amphipods can/could eat zoes. it says some aquarist saw this happening. This is very unlikely. The most commen amphipod in the salt aquarium are most likley Gammarid amphipods or Tryphosella murrayi.
These are plankton and dentritus eaters.

What I have seen is pods running around on them and irritating them keeping them shut. If they don't open, then they eventually die.

I've also seen pods eating on dead polyps. I had a frag fall where I couldn't reach it. By the time I found it and got it out, it was as good as dead. The pods appeared to clean up the dead tissue.

But then they would be injesting poison from the zoa. certainly they can be eating any poison, their as subseptible to toxins as we are.

Poisons are not in all zoas. Only certain palys as I understand it.

People say to treat them as though all do because it is not well known in the hobby precisely what it is we have in our tanks whether they actually do or not.

Even if it is one with the toxin, that doesn't mean they can't eat it or be exposed to it. They might have evolved with an immunity to the toxin in their prey. For example, I believe the mongoose has a resistance to snake poison.

Oh ya, good point! hmmm, Corals without poisons, have no defense mechanism against preditors, besides closing up.
