I'm pretty new to macro and tank shots, not to photography though... Color balance is a bit of a challenge as I'm sure you know...
All shot with 80-200 2.8 + 1.4 teleconverter and various extension tubes off a tripod with tank light. All at f/22 and WB is about 14k in Adobe RAW.
What do you think?

Lettuce Nudi is booking on a 2 second shot! I don't love the crop but you can see the clam growth on this one:

You should take a few with the 1.4x tube off. Because any shot taken at f/2.8, will end up being shot at 1.4x that, (which I believe would be f/3.5) You have the opportunity to be extremely fast with that lens, I would think they may come out better, and you would be able to focus deeper, with out the tube.
Just my $0.02

What are these tubes you are talking about?

Basically they are just tubes (no glass) that move the lens further away from the focal plane. They go between the body and the lens. Kind of a cheep macro.
These are the ones I have:

Very nice! I like the macro!
Did you cheat and move the zoo's closer to the glass?

my mistake...I thought you had a specific macro lens. Having a lens and trying to convert it into a macro lens makes more sense than extending a macro lens
my mistake

Thanks, are those worth the investment? Looks that way from your pics!

Nope. In using the longer lens (80-200) + the 1.4 teleconverter and the extension tubes I actually had to move back a bit. I was probably a foot from the glass. I couldn't get it in focus any closer. I did crop it but not a huge amount. It was taken horizontally and I cropped it for a vertical shot.
Here is the original aspect ratio:
