Hi All,
I'm Ray, new to the club but been in the hobby for the past 15+ years. Fresh/Saltwater/Reef. A few members from MNsubaru mentioned this a while ago and I haven't had much time to pursue this hobby until recently, I got interested again...
My most current setup was a 75G acrylic (reef setup) about 1+ year ago. I've always been into aquariums since I was a kid (Stress reliever after a hard day at work/school) lol. My wife loves them as well, but hates what I spend on it...haha
I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and hopefully I can meet a few of you during the monthly meeting.
Thanks in advance,
Ray

Welcome. It will change as you get some more posts. Once you go to a meeting, it will change to "TCMAS Member" and then you will have the option to set it to anything you want.

Oh I'm not worried being a bacteria as long as I'm beneficial ;)
I work @ White Bear Subaru, if u got any questions about Subarus and monthly programs I'm your guy, but if you get technical I would have to refer you to MNsubaru...haha
as for pics...I'll have to dig into my comp at home and find some...right now my tank is torn down...

just curious...what do you guys think of "Fish and Friends" in BP? I use to go there alot because he was the closest for me to get supplies..got a few corals there too
hypertech
11-15-2007, 01:53 PM
I only go there if I have to. I usually wind up doing a group order because I want one little thing, don't want to drive to the good stores. and don't want to spend my money at Fish & Unfriendly.
RaysReef
11-15-2007, 01:56 PM
"unfriendly" wow...usually Dan or Joe is pretty good treat'in me right...But again I've spent $$$ with them since I moved here from CA. Joe is my guy when I go on vacations, he takes care of all my maintenance and feeding while I'm gone.
Just curious...any good aqua place around the blaine area? recommendation...I'm usually pretty loyal when people treat me right.

There has only been one guy in there when I go in. I never did get his name.
RaysReef
11-15-2007, 02:07 PM
probably Dan..haha...he is a bit coarse until you start talking to him...then he loosens up. I'm in sales so breaking the ice or starting a conversation is natural for me...He keeps calling me "guy" like Hey Guy, wassup Guy...Took about 2 years to finally call me Ray...There's a method of getting a person to remember your name, just took him a little longer...

As soon as you find a tank on here to buy, sign up to host a meeting - you'd be beneficial and a lifer :)

funni hypertech...usually how many people show up at the meetings?
hypertech
11-15-2007, 10:23 PM
Well, that depends on how big your tank is, what kind of food your serving and how many frags DG is selling. It was standing room only at the last meeting.
If Stan is hosting, you have to park half a mile away.
When I hosted I'm guessing there were 40-50 people which I thought was pretty good turn out.
RaysReef
11-15-2007, 10:26 PM
oh boi...haha dunno if I can hold that much people...I guess I don't have that much room (Its only a townhome) Food!?! Potluck! I probably won't be selling anything anytime soon...
hypertech
11-15-2007, 10:27 PM
Several members have had meetings at townhomes. Don't let that stop you.

get yourself a tank started, cycled, and ready for frags from other reef keepers! i used to buy corals from the higher end fish stores, but now i find equally nice corals for very reasonable prices. plus i can now trade for new corals.
any time i meet someone interested in a reef tank, i point them here. its the best i can offer! (i work for petsmart, ugh)

thanks for the input armagedon...definately I want to get everything setup. I'll be hopefully buying from members here soon, for sure nothing to trade until my tank is establish...
Curious..has anyone hosted without haven't anything setup yet?
hypertech

pm mtfatwork and find out. I don't know.
People do like seeing the tank, but its also an excuse to get out and be social with other interested people.

Yeah I host the Business meetings and some frag swaps at my store. I am in the same boat. Townhome and 50 peeps don't mix well with the wifey.:)
