Does anyone know of a good source to buy Hydrochloric acid (Muriatic acid)?

I get it at Menards in the paint department. Typically next to the paint thinners and mineral spirits. I believe the brand is Sunnyside and runs about $4 a gallon.

I have a gallon if anyone wants it. With the price of gas these days, it's cheaper to get it at the Home Depot.
I work in Plymouth and live in Zimmerman (North of Elk River)

Cleaning/restoring old abused live rock or dead rock before using and/or to clean buildup off glass tops or tanks.

Here is our local thread: http://www.tcmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2189&highlight=muratic+acid
There is the original thread in the Reef Chemisty forum on RC:

I usually do a two step process particually if it is old rock that was covered with slimy algae. Muratic acid bath, rinsed thoroughly then a bleach bath to further dissolve some of the old hair algae as the muratic will dissolve too much of the rock if left in long enough to get all that off......
Another good use is to clean the ph probes. More effective than vinegar. Of course needs to be recalibrated afterwards.

Don't spill it on the driveway. Also wear some safety glasses as it boils on contact with coraline.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the grave.
Can muriatic acid be used on acrylic to remove coraline? My skimmer is covered in coraline right now and I'm thinking this would be the best way to remove it vs. a vinegar bath.
So if it is ok to use on acrylic, what's the best way to rinse this stuff off after giving it an acid bath?

I found it. Both Menards and Fleet Farm has it in the paint departments. Menards was cheaper.

I would say no on using it with acrylic, not from doing it personally, but having used the stuff before. I tarnishes stainless steel, so I can't image it's good for acrylic.

I just read over at RC that it is save to use on plastics but one should take the o-rings off before doing a soak.
If I ruin my skimmer body...I'll report back and be very sad.

It can be used to clean virtually anything tank related. Just be sure to dilute it 10:1 with tap or ro water and you will be fine. Really you only need to take out the orings if your going to leave it in for long period of time. I usually soak until it stops fizzing which is only a couple of minutes.
