We had a crazy day of fishing in Sayulita with a local friend of a friend. Not the greatest gear, but a hell of a time. Took a couple hours catching bait, then fought a few before getting a good hook up. Fought this one for maybe 30 min. We found out they're not the best eating, bloody meat that tasted like cheap steak. Not too bad with enough cervesa, though...

we also saw humpbacks breeching, and some kind of rays jumping like mad (I'm going to upload a video of this sometime). The next day my wife and I were playing around in a tidal pool and I found an octopus. Awesome! Then, we bumped our flight and got a set of free tickets and another night in an all-inclusive place on the beach in PV. NICE!

hey tico, where'd you get yours?

Caught mine off Playa Preciosa on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. I'll bet those rays were eagle rays. I've seen them jumping like that when they're feeding on a bait ball. Those rooster fish fight like heck. Sounds like a fun time.

I know that there were eagle rays, I followed one around when I was snorkeling for a while. I didn't quite see any spots, but that might just have been because I was too far off. Anyway, it was a blast!
