My son and I just re-aquascaped our tank last night and most of the corals are recovered from the time in a holding tank...but our monster hammer ancora has not fully extended it's polyps yet. Any idea's on how long it might take?

As long as it does look to be receeding or damaged I wouldn't worry about it at least for few more days yet......

Thanks David for the advice. I heavily relied upon your aquascaping articles as guidlines for our project and it worked out splendidly! I will have to post pics once everything is looking good again. : )

If you're water parameters haven't changed the best thing you can do is absolutely nothing. When my ancora hammers got stressed back in November it was a good 3-4 weeks before they opened up fully again. Now they're back to their usual selves, but they were awfully slow to be happy again compared to some of the other corals I stressed.

I checked it out closer and when I repositioned it in the tank, part of the mantle/polyps got nestled down into the substrate. I have sinced moved it out of the substrate, but the part that were in there look all shruken and whithered! I will take your wise advice and just keep an eye on them as the parameters are the same as before the aquascaping.

Did you change lighting or position? Or did you change flow or flow position? If it was great before, then the conditions you had were perfect. Just try to duplicate what you did. Otherwise do what David says wait a few and if not then try a medicated dip. The movement might have damaged it and it got a infection. Just a thought. Good luck!
