I was just wondering if anyone had experiance getting monti's to color up. I have never really had much success with it. I have a decent size piece of cap that was neon metallic green when I got it, but has been brown for more than a year. I also just goy a piece that is browning. I can keeps acros colored, but not montis, What's the deal?

Some monti's strains maintain and keep color better than others. If it wasn't wild caught, trying to replicate the tank it came from as far as K and intensity is usually the easiest. Over the years, I have had many that never regain color and have always just kept the ones that just do better at maintaining color in captive conditions.

If you want metalic green and this is a cap, just let me know. I'll let you try a piece of mine. Green with purple polyps ( under MH ) and see how it goes (offer to Derek only. I don't have enough to go around ).

Thanks David. I got it from Ken and he had it under the same lighting 250W 20K. Maybe it will be happier in my moms tank

I kinda have the same problem, most acro's flourish, while most monti's dont.
I've had a leng sy cap from rafael for over a year, and it just encrusts very slowly. I think davids right though, some fair better than others in different tanks and so on...

Definately purple polyps. They are were very distinct with 400w 20K Radiums. Now under t5s they are still there but not as prominent.....but has maintained the bright green under all conditions even vhos.
