so i was just looking at my tank and saw my scooter blenys breeding. i just got them maybe 3 weeks ago. i thought there where to small to breed. there only 1" to 1 1/2". i have followed some threads on rc about this and my question is has ne one in the club bread them and if so how hard is it. from what i have read i dont think i can do it as i dont think i have the right food for the fry and time. so if i do get some fry in there my guess is the othere fish will just eat them right? but needless to say it is a cool thing to see. i see the male trying to get the female's atenchon (sp) during the day and she wants noting to do with him. is that weird or normal. there doing this with my luner lights on. well ill keep you posted on what happens.
thanx

That's pretty cool. I've never actually tried breeding anything, but from the reading I've done it sounds like it's mostly about perseverance and commitment to them every day. Fry need all the right conditions (tank water, food & feeding intervals, etc) and you have to be willing/able to care for them first and foremost for success.
BTW, it's spelled attention :)

I have no idea how to raise fish....but having humping fish in a tank is pretty cool IMHO.

Dwayne Sapp the local live phyto and rotifer guru has had a breeding pair in years past and shot a nice video of the mating dance. I never heard if he ever was sucessful at raising the fry to adulthood or not......this was several years ago and he isn't on the board much perhaps he still tunes in but probably more a lurker now.

Kathy55g in STL has been extremely successful w/clowns (started on her own not too long ago and now supplies many of the fish stores... she does the everything including the making/growing of the food). Anyway I figure the overall concept on how to do it is probably the same and you may want to ask her if you really want to know. It's quite the operation though.

have they actually laid eggs or just gotten it on? I have a pair that does the dance all of the time and just recently saw them lay a few strands of eggs. Way cool though. Congrats, you have humping fish.
