Hey guys, I just started a 46 bow and it's still cycling. I just had a question, i bought some live rock to put on top of my base rocks and now they are a rusty brown color. It spread from the rock to the base rocks and now to the substrate. Is that bad?

Its probably diatoms - they will go away with time and good water quality.

If they are little flake looking things, they are planaria flatworms. I have them now. So long as they don't get to plague proportions and smother things, they are harmless - annoying but harmless.

Your tank will go through a couple morer different stages before you get it where you want it to be. You may get cyno next. It's a redish/purplish algae. Be paitent...and keep asking questions...That's what's so great about this club. You've got questions, we've got answers...

yeah thanks, the brown is actually all gone now, and i've done nothing but a partial water change so far.
