so I have had my 40 long running for about a month now. right now the only thing in it are a couple clowns that I wanted to treat before pitting them in my coral tank.

right now for live stock I have a dwarf lion, 4 damsels, 2 clowns, and a blenny plus a few random things like snails, crabs, and an urchin. they are all in my coral 55g but the clowns that are waiting in the 40g.

I was going to just keep everything in my 55g and get 2 dwarf angles and let them have the bottom tank. I also wanted to get a butterfly fish for the 55g and maybe a couple wrasses, 1 for each tank.

I guess I just want to know what you think I should look at getting for between the two tanks? keep in mind the livestock I already own needs a place too! also another Idea I had was to switch my lights for my 55g and my 40g so I can do the corals in the 40g and have the 55g for the fish only tank!

So the 40 is FOWLR right now, and the 55 is a reef tank? Maybe you can get bigger fish for the 55, and smaller ones for the 45. You can always get some t-5's or something down the road. I've been looking at firefish quite a bit. If you have a smaller tank, you may want to look into somtehing a bit more rare as opposed to your classic damsels and perc clowns.

2 centropyge angels I wouldn't reccommend in anything less than 100g or so. damsels are rough on a lot of other possible inhabitants. check out a hawkfish, a longnose would be cool.

i'v heard success with up to 4 centropyge argi in a 24 gallon aquapod, and they spawned nightly. i can provide a link on how it was done and the problems the guy had doing it later today. right now im pressed for time.

i plan to add a pair of argi to my 20 long in september/november.

I've heard about this a few times, I imagine that pygmy angels may be a bit of an exception to the rule. I also would guess that it's not for the unseasoned aquarist. I would bet you couldn't do that with a bicolor and a flame and a coral beauty, etc...

Here is the breeding log for the Centropyge Argi... He has 4 now I do believe.

I plan on doing a Centropyge trio in the 58. Probably the Brazilian Flameback (Centropyge aurantonotus).

I've seen that thread mentioned here several times. That guy has 4 clowns, 3 angels, and at least 1 firefish in a 24 nanocube (more like 15 gallons).

Then he switches it by the end to 4 angels, 2 bangaii's, a couple clowns, and a few chromis/damsels.

I think it is a classic case of - just because someone on the internet did it does not make it OK.

well right now I was thinking maybe put the clowns in the bottom tank with all the coral and my T5 light and put like 2 (different) dwarf angles with my dwarf lion in the 55g. but I would still want to add some type of "fun" fish in with the corals then! thats where maybe a butterfly fish or maybe that firefish could go! but what to do with the damsels, 55g or 40g!

lol, by the way I have both tanks on the same stand if anyone was wondering when I say top and bottom tanks!
