Is it stupid to purchase amphipods from ebay?

Stupid... no. But know that you can probably get them in the club for free. Everytime take out my filter sock to wash it, it's teaming with pods.

I as well could get you some and soon will hopefully culture them myself :)

if you really want to make them worth it, start a refugium to culture them. Otherwise you may still have a couple in your rock already and just haven't seen them b/c your tank is only a month old and they haven't had a chance to become successful and reproduce (from predation, lack of food, etc.). I didn't even know I had any until my tank was 6 months old. After I set up a refugium the population exploded.

I agree, when I added my fuge, the population went up. Then I started putting some of the chaeto in the tank hidden under a rock and the population exploded.

Thanks for the info. I just added a 10 gallon Sump/Refugium to my set up, so I'll wait and see what happens.
