Hello all,

I was recently pondering the fragging of disk coral, and I was wondering how disk coral is fragged? Does one just snap it in half in a loving manner, or is there a more delicate process involved? Just to avoid any confusion, this is the type of disk coral that I am speaking of:

No, I do not own this coral, but I am considering purchasing one in the future. (Harmar pets had an orange disk coral that I thought was pretty sweet looking)

I'm not sure that it's possible with these, but not 100%

I think you can, it just takes a long time for the coral to grow to be round again

I would like to be able to frag this coral once I own one. Does anyone know how long it would take to "be round again"?

Not really a good candidate for fragging. I

t would take several years ( upwards of 3-5 years questimate ) for it to grow back to a disk shape.

If you did choose too, you would cut it like a pizza since it has only 1 mouth.

Slipper corals which are similiar but elongated, fragging is no problem since it has lots of mouths and grows back over and looks normal again without 3-6 months.

Alright, thanks David. I guess my roommate won't be getting a frag when I get this coral!
