Ok, our sebae looked awesome till....
We added our new corals, a 75 gallon fuge and a raccoon butterfly. Now I think its probably gone. It's completely shriveled, more than when it does the water change. It moved and is now looking extremely ill.
What could have caused a very healthy anemone to decline in less than a week?

Is the raccoon bugging it? Don't butterfly fish eat anemones?

to them bta/sebae is the same as aptasia and majano. Lunch!

Well, it's a bit moot now, the sebae succumbed. It had a clown guarding it, but it's an adolescent clown so wasn't perhaps aggressive enough. Total drag. Guess the coon will have to go before I get another anemone for the clown. BUT on the upside, I think there is only one aptasia left in the tank.

Aptasia...not for long.
My 3 BTA's have a maroon guard and the coon knows better.
PS: read up on the Lunar wrasse you were looking to get...that fish = no, clams or inverts.

With a Racoon in the tank you will likely never know if that was the problem or if it was on its way out anyhow.
How long did you have the sebae? Anything less than a year and it could have been having trouble without showing any real signs. Kind of like clams you usually don't know there is a problem until it's too late but could very well have been a 6 month or more process......
Like I've mentioned before the real downside (assuming you can keep it alive that long ) is that in 8-10 years they are just massive 30" in diameter. This is the main reason I don't want one.

We've had the Sebae for 3 months, and the color was really nice, ate well, good extension. After putting the new corals in and the raccoon it just didn't expand like it use to. I read up later on the Lunare and won't be doing one of those either. I've also pulled all the zoas out because I'm pretty sure the raccoon at a bunch of those too. It's just a toss up, which is the lesser evil. Over run with aptasia that nothing seem to work to get rid of, or get something that eats loads of stuff from my tank. Well guess once the raccoon is finished, he'll find a new home.

If you were just looking to get rid of aptasia, why didn't you just get a peppermint shrimp or two. They will get rid of them and won't decimate the rest of the tank. If you want them out, they're fairly easy to trap.

I have 10 peppermints in my tank, they kept the new aptasias from starting but there were so many large ones that they couldn't get rid of. Didn't notice the infestation when I got the rock.

Hope you pulled it out before it fell apart. My sebae did a pretty good job of killing most of my SPS when it died last year while I was on vacation.

I grabbed it before it could do much damage. I should have pulled it two days ago when it was looking stressed and moved it. My poor clown is beside herself now. We'll look for another after we relocate the raccoon.

I know what you mean, my maroon clown is still wondering the tank and going back to where the sebae was.

My sebae clown is actually digging around where the anemone was. Just hope that she doesn't tear up my tank.

When you want to get her a new one, think about a BTA - they don't get as big as quick.

just got my Coon in a trap....YES!
It did do its job, no nuance anemones in the tank.
But after reading this post and seeing what looked like a nip at the RBT; It was time to go.
Going to trade a coon for a rabbit.
