Most of you have probably seen me at a meeting, but for those of you who don't here's a short introduction.
My name is Jake Hagberg and I live in Anoka and I am totally obsessed with saltwater aquariums. I've been a member of TCMAS since 2003, keeping saltwater fish tanks since 1998, and a previous sponsor of TRT.
I recently started an aquarium maintenance company called Discovery Aquatics. Since it's birth in Dec 2007, it's also grown to be a small saltwater fish store. Our aim (and also TCMAS's mission) is to provide beginner aquarists with the tools and knowledge to set up and maintain a successful saltwater aquarium. We also want to provide advanced hobbyists with unique and rare corals.
So what makes us different?
1. We don't purchase exotic creatures that are better left in the ocean, like some species of nudibranchs and gonipora.
2. We understand gas is expensive, and we're willing to deliver drygoods and some livestock to the TCMAS meetings.
3. Although we're not perfect, we aim to be pest free: All of our corals are treated with ReVive to help prevent the spread of Flatworms, Nudibranch and LRB.
4. We buy propagated and aquacultured corals, as well as MAC certified fish - no cyanide.
In the end, we want what's best for the customer.

I'm glad I 'discovered' Discovery Aquatics several weeks ago. Not only is his store located on the northside close to me, but he's spent HOURS (no exageration) answering my questions and even came out to my house to have a look at my setup first-hand. It's been the first time I've felt like a LFS was interested in my individual setup and success instead of trying to make a buck off my inexperience. For anyone who might be new to the hobby like me and is looking to build a relationship with a LFS I can't recommend Jake and Discovery Aquatics enough. Or if you'r just craving some chocolate there a bunch of free candy bars for the taking there too. ;)
Thanks for sponsoring!
You need a branch store over on the other side of the Cities.
