Do any of you use Seachem Reef Plus? Do any of you think that the amino acids and whatnot that it says it has actually work? I never feed my ten gallon nano anything (besides my emerald crab some nori) because I have no fish. I feel that its a low nutrient tank because I hardly ever clean my glass (maybe once every two weeks), I have three bubbles of bubble algae that havent grown or spread in over a month, and the sand is always white. I'm wondering if my corals aren't doing as great as they should because they have nothing to feed off of. Just looking for some input, thanks.

If you have three bubbles and you can get to them, take a tweezers and pluck them out.
You could get yourself a small goby/blenny and feed it small amounts. I'd do that before adding magic in a bottle though I am not familiar with that product.

Amino acids really aren't going to do much for you unless your running a very low nutrient is phosphate and nitrate limited systems. For example: vodka dosing, or zeovit type systems. Even what you describe you may think of it as low nutrient but your not running a true low nutrient system. As long as it doesn't cause algae issues, you can certainly give it a try but likely just wasting money.

alright well thanks guys, im just worried that there is nothing in the water column for my porcelain crab to eat since there is no food or detritus in the water column.

if your worried about the crab, it's okay to add a little cyclopeeze or something occascionally. Amino acids aren't going to accomplish the task of feeding the crab.
Even without food there is plenty of detritus happening from within the liverock...If tank is mature and you have any sandbed stir it up occasionally I'm sure theres plenty there.

How long have you had your nano going?

What corals do you have? Any sps? While the symtoms of N limited are pretty easy to diagnose with sps, with lps, its not so easy. If you have lps, how is the growth?

i only really have softies, and while my mushrooms, xenia, and kenya trees are all doing fine, my palys and zoanthids never open as fully as they used too. I had a monti cap in it for a while because i broke off of a piece in our 75 and while it didn't have any tissue necrosis, the polyps just slowing started going away and it became more dull colored (over about a month) so i moved it back. My nano has been going since christmas.

To my knowledge, sps are the only corals that have been shown to absorb aminos from the water column.....
