View Full Version : Modding a Bak-Pak II

Wolmutt suggested that I modify my Bak-Pak II to increase its collections. I'm not getting very much out of it and I've adjusted the cup repeatedly. It's got a Maxi-Jet 1200 on it. I'm not finding much online. I've got a wide-open airline attached to an air pump and the Maxi-Jet is sucking air like crazy and I've got a nicely chopped water column that's nearly pure white with bubbles.
Anyone got any suggestions? (Other than replacing it --not feasible right now)

That is about all you can do that I am aware of is replaceing the rio with the maxi-jet. Did it come with the bio bale? If so remove that if you haven't allready.

my dad's has been rocking since day one, he said if the little holes on the cup get clogged it acts up, but that's about it.

Nope, no bio-bale. :) I've actually had half a bag in my closet for a year that I should give away to anyone who has use for it.

Im not quite sure if it will help with your skimmer, but I have the PS6 running a mj900, And I am injecting air into the maxi. I took the impeller out of the maxi and drilled two holes in each of the impeller blades, as close to the outside edges as possible, and I ran 6 lb. test fishing line through each of the holes and tied it off. It helped on some of my other skimmers, so I dont think it could hurt to try. It sure chopped up the air into much smaller bubbles.
