yes all the waveboxs are is a 6200 stream in a box.
1. cut a hole in the box
2. put your stream in that box
3. then you turn on the box:laugh:

(sorry couldn't resist)

All it is, is a pump on a wavemaker in a box that is it very simple design. That is why I had my 120 built the way I did to incorporate a basic wavebox only mounted outside the tank.

Wow, that's pretty good. Before I saw the vid, my initial thought was that it's the controller that allows you to dial in the wave, but after looking at the vid, that's pretty sweet... I'd surprised though if the MJ could do that for a long period of time...

is it just kicking the pump on and off every second? I second your opinion about the pumps life, but I guess, how many maxijets would you have to kill for it to cost as much as the tunze?alot

After looking around, some people who have built these were reporting that they were replacing Mjs after only a few months.... If you look over a three year period, I think it'd still be tough to beat the Tunze.... but if you're payback period is only a year, then probably not.

Yes the tunzes and similar design just kick the pump on for a few seconds and then off. Every tank will be different and unique in that timing of the pump turn on and off usually ranges from 3-10 seconds. The key is getting it dialed in to keep the wave in sync with the pump.

me too , i think id give it weeks to months if ya turned it on and off like that.

although some of the new props that have been sent to me are really hard and don't show any damage from the stopper.

Its a neat idea and maybe a fun project but i don't think the average person would have a ton of luck with it.

The timer has to be really configurable... For my wavebox, I think the delay is something like 1.6 seconds for a wave larger than an 1".... one second results in a small wave as does 2 seconds. I've not used a wave maker for a long time, may be they could be that precise.
