First of all, I would highly recommend a new skimmer, the good ones are expensive, but they are a big part of water quality. I would highly recommend the reef mania PS6, that is what I have on my 90 gal, and it works like a charm! Their website is reefmania.net.

Yeah, I agree. Not a good skimmer...upgrade. You've got nutrient problems are you using RO/DI water for makeup?

Before doing sugar or vodka dosing, MUST read up on it.

Skimmer is WAY undersized for a 90g.

RO/DI is pretty much also a must if you attempting to use conditioned tap water as it is very high in Nitrates and phosphates.

Don't use any flake foods. Also high in phosphates. Rinse all frozen foods in RO/DI water as well.

UV sterilizer may also be of benefit to you as well......

DG- I was going to say vodka... but it's one of those things, someone might do the ole one for me, one for the tank, one for me, two for the tank, etc etc... :)

Though after having used it, the people who have the crashes must have been really agressive with it... I've followed the dosing that Jorg recommended and I think it's a bit too conservative.

I wouldn't think about using sugar/vodka unless you have a good skimmer. I'd think you'd get the most bang for your buck upgrading to a skimmer like Matt said, the ER RS80, and getting RO/DI water.....
