Anyone know where in town I could get PVC single union ball valves? (That means it comes apart only on one side). I've tried Indelco, SPS, Ferguson. An online source (other than Prem Aquatics, M.D., or Aquatic Eco) would also be welcome.

If you want to pay $35, I'm sure WoF would sell you one... Championlighting too... savko

Just curious why a true union wouldn't work? Is space a constraint?

space is somewhat a consideration but cost is even more so -- true unions usually cost at least 25% more and are unnecessary in my setup. $35 seems ridiculous (but thanks mattb) and I didn't see any union style valves at Champion. But I found a fairly good price at Aquarium Pros and Mail Order Pet Supplies.

You can get them from Home Depot for under $15, depending on size... Of course, you'll also need 3 inches of pipe and some glue.
Why not assemble your own?

Assemble my own S.U. ball valves?? I don't get it. But H.D sells them? I've never seen them there (but haven't looked that close, I guess.)

Oh wait, are you saying use glue between normal ball valves and unions? I guess that's an option, but less anal. Some reefers like to be perfectionists. :biglaugh2:

I guess so. And some of us have a setup that'll require 4 or 5 of those things, and if we could save $20 each on them, consider that another $80 or $100 worth of coral / fish/ other goodies...

And I have heard that some HDs do carry them. My local one is on the smaller side, and doesn't.

Thx -- I'll check out the E.P. HD

I think Champion calls them Tru Union valves... I get them there or at Premium Aquatics. But they are two sided unions, the only single sided union I've found was at WoF... stupidly, I actually paid that....

Actually Indelco does sell them, the salesperson I taked to there apparently doesn't know his own inventory. But I found their website and it looks like they do have them, just fyi to everyone.
