the time has come for me to buy a decent camera for pictures of corals.
what would be the "best of the cheap"
what i mean is i don't want tospend 2k right off the bat when a good 400$ will work
what are your recomendations.
also i know you need a diffrent lens then normally comes with the camera. what should i be looking at?

thanks!!!

Are you talking DSLR? If so, find the cheapest body you can for the camera style you want to go to. When you start buying lenses, you will want to keep them when you upgrade the body.

If you are talking point and shoot, I'm not sure - it was a long time ago that I bought one last.

This might help: Buying a Camera (http://www.ximinasphotography.com/lessons/lesson08/camera.html)

The "prosumer" type might be best for you. I believe that morty got a prosumer and he's taken some quality pictures. Let me know if you have more questions after taking a look at that article.

If you decide on a DSLR, I'd recommend the Nikon d60 vs. the cheaper d40. It's not always the best decision to buy cheap and upgrade later.
