aquarium silicone from the inside if possible, and the outside. let it cure for a day, maybe sand too for better adhesion. it worked for me with a u-tube in an overflow box. That does suck man

thanks, but I dont think silicon will be enough. The skimmer is 30"tall and runs externally, so if it leaks Im ucked
This skimmer was $400 used

I can take the top off so I could glue both inside and outside if I could get my hands on the right glue

Ah I know the feeling. When mine cracked I watched Bob fix it. All you need to do is tiny holes at the end of the cracks to prevent them from extending further and then use some weld on to adhere it. He used 42 but I think you would be just fine with 16. Let it cure for a day or two and you should be good to go.

I am worried about using 16 on an external skimmer. Drill holes? Gasp
Drill holes? Gasp
c'mon it's just like you drummers do with cracked cymbals. here's hoping it holds up more than one of those, though.

Weldon is the only thing I would trust on a external skimmer and yes I would be fine with 16 and yes you should drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack otherwise it will just keep expanding.

yeah, but I am not trying to have the cymbals hold water over carpet.
I am going to try to order some Weldon 40, Should I just try to fill in the hoes at the ends of the crack?

Yes fill in the holes you made with the 40

holes drilled, weldon 40 applied, curing since 6:30 yesterday. I wasnt able to get much weldon on the inside, but I put a ton on the out side. I will try to water test it tomorrow if I have time.

I know you have it fixed now but in the future i want to put this product out there to see about possiblities.
SEM problem plastic repair
it can be picked up at any auto repair shops (napa) for about 20 bucks. I don't know if there would be any leaching of chemicals or anything. This product is sandable but not clear (tan) so you would put it on and then sand it smooth. I have used this several times to reassemple completely blown apart ferrings for crotch rockets (30+ peices). The unique thing about this product is it actually melts portions of the old material to create super strong bonds.
