I have had my tank running for about three months now and all seemed to be going well.

I recently started seeing small tube worm looking critters attached to my rock who are happy to fill my tank with a considerable amount of stringy spider web looking substance. I often see small particles of food get caught in them and it seems to me they reel them in.

Anyhow, its really annoying, it makes my tank look like a mess and i don't know what to do about them or even what they are.

Anyone know what they could possibly be??

I recently had my tank drilled and an overflow box attached. It looked good but when I brought it home I noticed some silicone fingerprints and smears on the back glass (outside of tank). How can I remove these? So far all I've tried are windex and rubbing alcohol plus lots of elbow grease. The rubbing alcohol did remove some but the worst of it remains.

Any ideas on how to get silicone completely off of the glass without scratches? It is on the outside of the tank, so I do feel comfortable using chemicals.

Any input is appreciated!

Wow, I was just reviewing some past pictures that I had taken back in June when my tank was just on the beginning stages...much has changed from this:

to this as of today:

There was a period though about a month ago that my corals appeared to have been going through a rough time. The green slimer has pulled through finally, it's color restored (bleached within two weeks after getting it) and the polyps are out. My blue tipped stag, appeared to have been "Shedding", and the polyps were not out one bit. Now it's just as fuzzy as it can be, the blue tip has returned and has grown another "stub". My montipora cap, however, has a brown dead spot in the middle. The coral appears to be healing as it is getting smaller, so I'm not sure if I should try fragging that part off or not (Suggestions?). My zoa colony is starting to recover after the zoa eating nudi's that destroyed almost half of the colony. I am keeping a very close eye on them, but it's nice to see them finally begin to open up again.

All in all, I am very happy with my system, everything is working and the colors I had dreamt about having in this reef is finally becoming a reality in my sps-dominated tank with the exception of the favia closed brain and the gorgonian. The dead marco rocks I had purchased don't even look dead anymore, and in fact have great coralline growth (greens, reds and purples).

I really want to get a sand sifting goby for my 18 gal aquarium and just wondered what people would suggest. I'll be feeding the aquarium frozen daily so as long as the goby eats frozen it shouldn't be a problem.

I really like this fish but am not sure it'd be ok in the aquarium

And yes, before anyone asks, I'm planning on making a screen top or acrylic top for the tank to prevent carpet surfing fish.
