Do you or did you own a tang? Then it was collected by someone. The article is pretty fair in that it says this was likely caused by an equipment failure or something else and not someone intentionally collecting fish to kill them.

It is unfortunate, but I don't see how you could be upset at the person that did it.

Hmmmm doesnt look good at all; but in all fairness its not very different from a tank failure. Check out Oregonreef.com a fantastic homegrown reef gone to waste coz of a skimmer.

I would have to agree that SH$% happens. We are just as much to blame as the guys catching them as we buy them.

It does suck but I agree with Timmy. We are feeding the demand. Unless people are willing to only buy ORA or locally bred fish this stuff will continue to happen

I wonder if folks around these parts would be equally as upset if it was a photo of a bunch of poached Crappies

Most people are ticked when they see a dnr raid yield several hundred pounds of dead crappies and walleyes. However poaching gamefish is illegal. Depending on what the circumstances are in this fishy story(hahahaha). It could be just like others have said, a very unlucky individual who lost alot of money and livestock. It sucks but it happens.

sad, i wish our hobby could rely more on captive bred than wild caught. alot of the fish we keep still havent been successfully bred captivley yet, unfortunatly.

We all can willingly make a choice when we buy livestock, to buy captive or wild caught... and of course buy from a company who catches them and treats them well vs the piles of bags left out in the sun (QM videos most of us have seen)

inquire on your fish purchases, know where they came from, care where they came from, this is our responsibility.

The irony is that people say this more than practice it.... Will you pay $80 for a captive bred fish versus $35 for a wild caught?!? How many people will do a group buy for $20 crocea clams that are wild collected versus buying an ORA maricultured crocea for $50 from Fritz?!?

It's all talk except for the minority of reefers. It's a tough economy and times are tight for many.... I am not judging those that do this but this is how it is...
