Yup, you could make a bubble trap if you really want to, but it really shouldn't be needed. More hassle to put in than it's worth really.

Ok so today I got 2 48" 2 bulb T-5 fixtures for the tank, reflectors are a bit rusty so probably need replacing and bulbs are around 7 months old I think he said(Thanks Biggiesdrum by the way). So 4 bulbs total, what do you recomend for bulbs? 2 actinics? and 2???? I plan on mostly lps and maybe some sps.Lighting schedule? and they don't have fans...add them to the canopy? Tank is in the downstairs so heat might actually be beneficial but the fixtures are also only a 1/4" from the top of the canopy, fire hazard? Also, lets talk herbie method, Matt this is your que to chime in......Im thinking corner over flow with how many holes and what size?
Ray, if you see this, you said you had a return pump I could use, will it work for this Herbie method?

Got the ro/di going today. Had to tap into a 3/4 copper line in my mechanical room so it was kind of a project. Will post pics later.

Ok, we drilled the beast today!! Thanks to everyone one at Angie's for their input and Matt for getting his hands dirty by drilling! Im letting the first round of silicone dry on the overflow as we speak. How tight do you tighten the bulkheads? and do you use dope or teflon?

I just use finger tight and another 1/4-1/2 turn. It is the rubber gasket that does the sealing, so nothing is needed on the threads. The gasket goes on the tank side so you don't have to worry about the nut wrinkling it as you tighten it.

Thanks again for all the help. While were at it, do you usually silicone the inside of your overflow?

If its easy to do, sure, why not. Note that I have never installed an overflow
