Amy said she was lonely and wanted competition!
So this is me formally tossing in my hat...
We both fully embrace any tough questions, criticism, or support members may have.
Will either candidate support an immediate ban of forum member acharpenter if elected?
I second this!!!!
About time someone takes this from me
I am a 100% AGAINST this
Election day is coming fast, I know that AmyZ would be a great president as well and would be a good day if I lost to her (just ask NickZ!). Not sure if anyone else has considered running so I'll kick this off. Feel free to ask me questions in advance or save them for the business meeting. I also went by Turf for the better part of my time here.
For anyone that was following along on earlier posts I did want to clarify that with my career I am able to serve in the president role and have the ability to view financials.
However, I would act in a viewing capacity only... someone else on the board would sign the checks (treasurer and one other I believe). From a functional standpoint I can still pay for things needed but would pass on receipts for reimbursement.
From a time standpoint I've spoken to a couple members of what's needed to do the job well and ACharpenter has set the bar pretty high! My calendar is clearing up as I've nearly finished the relocation of my practice and fully moved into our home. I stepped down from my last board of 8yrs as part of my move which is where I'm justifying my time from.
Location, I'm in Marshall now! This is unfortunate for member meetings as Angie has been a staple at them. Although not part of her job I believe other acting board/committee members can shoulder the torch as many have appreciated this consistency both in context of the group and socially. As for business meetings, I'm committed to being at them and will take time from my schedule to be in the cities personally.
As for my thoughts on the club... I've been in the hobby for nearly 20yrs and find that our group has some great leveraging points. Lots of people willing to help each other, strong volunteerism at events or gatherings, and ability to try new ideas (or reuse/refine old ones) which bring people together and life to the group. By in large I think anything done should point in one of those core directions as to its purpose.
I'm very open to hearing people out on ideas and issues and if they are willing to help with the work even better. When issues do arise they should be dealt with respectfully and quickly but respectful doesn't always mean compromising.
We've got a fantastic membership and people who have put a great deal into this organization which makes me excited to see what people will continue to bring to the table.
Hey all - this is coming up on the 23rd. I added an RSVP option to the original post. Could you please RSVP if your attending so I can get a head count for pizza?
If I RSVP with a +96, can I take the extra pizza home???
I had originally planned to be at the meeting but I have had to use my PTO for several family events and theirfore I have nearly exhausted my time off and I need to reserve my remaining 12 hours for the next 3 months of concerts, conferences and possible sick leave. I'm sorry about this because I really wanted to attend this time. But I do have several ideas that I would like to propose such as raising table prices slightly, going out and increasing the number of sponsors we have and also introduce a corporate sponsors that would only include companies that fit our ideals but in different ways. For example, I work for Renewal by Andersen and they work very hard at recycling the materials that we use and put it back into various window frames and glass frames. This a land based sustainable program but mirrors our mission in TCMAS, which is to own and help others sustain their corals without robbing from the oceans as heavily. Me and Darksky are also looking into a different and more central location to put the expo but we won't get our hopes up until we have done our due diligence and see if this is something we could do. I thank you for your time and I look forward to working with the new board and BOD members in the future.
Bump! Just under 2 weeks away!

Members - Kyle T. has stepped down as Secretary.
Please reply here with your intent to run for this position, Since Kyle has stepped down midterm - this position will last 1 year rather than the normal 2 and will be up for election at next years business meeting.
Since Ryan Snodgrass is running for president too, I would be willing to step down from running for president and run for secretary.
Fabulous - thank you for stepping up! OP updated!
Can we vote Amy in as secretary first thing so that she can then get us our coffee ?
Here I thought you were a nice guy David, I thought we were bonding over harassing Angie :/
Amy I now understand your pm!
