Welcome back to the hobby.
When you're ready for some montipora corals, let me know. I got plenty!
Just received my first fishes - a pair of onyx clowns from Chad in Vossen Aquatics or BRS ..
Amazing fishes and fully quarantined .. if anyone thinking of getting fishes, contact Chad ..
Anyways , I like to have less fishes with focus on specific species . Thought was to either make it anthias or wrasse specific.
Want to know how would you stock the tank ? May be 1-2 show fishes and everything around them ?
Thanks so much for the offer ..
Am getting a tester sps pack from Adam in January .. depending on how they turn out , will go for montis ..
Let me know when you will have frags ..
Let me know when you're ready. I can make frags at any time!
I have red, green, lilac, Idaho Grape, beige with purple rim, setosa and a few others.
Ok then I know already what not to ask from Adam !!!
So the Hamilton fixture with a single radium bulb was not giving enough PAR and nice coverage for 30in x30 in tank . Had a friend selling his double halides and jumped on them .
So now it may be wayyy overkill for some but the coverage is amazing from 550+ PAR at the top of the biggest rock to 200+ on the sand bed ..
2 250 watt radium running on sunlight blue wave magnetic ballast inside lumenarc reflectors ...
It's "MH Pornography"
Nice pickup! I passed up on that setup because of how low the reflectors need to sit. But the coverage sure does look nice.
This is what Christmas looks like at my house ..
Aquaforest balling salts , carbon , Reef mineral salts , trace elements ,
Amino acids , BRS Reef chili , LRS food , V2O zooplankton and phytoplankton ,NLS Thera A and NLS nutri cell for sps and Coral Frenzy ....
All set for my dream wrasses ,anthias and of course sps !!!!
Alkalinity has been low with high calcium and magnesium.
Alk - 6.5
Calcium - 575
Magnesium - 1600
Did a water change and slowly brought it upto 7.5 over the course of 4 days and now pH is holding steady between 8.05 - 8.10.
Got my first sps tester frags from Adam @ Battlecorals . Amazing person to deal with and the post delivery advices are priceless. The sps are doing great .
Even though i mentioned "NO ACROS" , no wonder first ones to enter the system were acros !!!

[/FONT]And then the orange Forest Fire Digitata .
Let me know what you all think !!!
Can you please link me to the parts used in creating your dosing containers? I would like to do the same as i dont like using the bottles lthe stuff comes in sometimes.
Well , I swicthed back tp plastic containers due to rust being formed on the tin covering of the containers.
You would need any container of your choice, a drill and the following :-
1. 1/4 inch bulkhead - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-4-push-connect-bulkhead-tank-adapter.html
2. 1/4 in clear acrylic tube - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-4-clear-acrylic-tube-16-long.html
In fact , I have 3 push connect bulkheads from the build that am not even using. You can get them for free from me if you want to come over the weekend .
I am at drill this weekend unfortunately, how about i pick them up when we do the group buy from adam?
Absolutely .. no worries
Well tank has been coming along good. Haven't had a chance to take a FTS but things are moving slowly.
Had an alkalinity spike which caused one of the wild frags to start STN. But quickly brought it back and things looking better now.
Thanks to jlanger(Jason) , got quite a lot of montiporas which are doing great .. Need to shoot .
Here's a few teasers of feeding time with NLS Nutricell
PC Rainbow , Wild Tortusa, BC Secale and Grape Juice. Need time to shoot the others.
8 months and things have changed drastically but slowly.
Light has been replaced with a bigger 20 inch reflector from hamilton with 2 reefbrite led strips running for 8 hours on halide and 10 hours for reefbrite leds. Still using Radium...
Flow has been increased to 2 x Tunze 6095, 1 Tunze 6105, 1 Icecap gyre and 1 Tunze 6040 with a seaswirl connected to my red dragon return pump.
Skimmer has been replaced with a Bubble King DC 150 .
Started ATI essentials and no water change done for 2 months and things looking good still..
Removed all GFO and carbon and let my bubbleking keep the water clean.
K.I.S.S method makes my life easier and my corals too.
Fish wise - have a trio of randalls anthias, 1 charlenae anthias (very aggressive), blue star leopard, black onyx clown pair, carpenter's flasher wrasse and a solor fairy wrasse.
Still looking to add a trio of Halichoeres Melasmapomas or Iridis or Rubricephalous
Alk is solid at 7.4-7.5 (measured 3 times a day) . Nitrates are high around 16 and phosphates around 0.08 - 0.1. Loving the high nutrient and high light and high flow system !!!
Little algae .
Biggest issue is with aiptasias which need to be stopped. Will try peppermint shrimps and then may be berghia nudis.
Started minimal maintenance except for changing filter socks and draining skimmer cup.
Tank is almost 90% acros mostly from WWC and Battlecorals and others. Can't say enough good things about these people and their livestocks. Makes my job as a hobbyist almost too easy to keep acroporas.
THANKS YOU GUYS !!!
Time for a crappy cell shot :-
Tank is looking good!
Love the gladiators!
Tank looks great Abhishek! I thought I was crazy testing Alk daily
Looking sweet Abhishek- you are crazy with the alk testing! You need the mindstream! Tank looks great.
Either mindstream or GHL but that would mean I have to do house work which I am happily avoiding with the excuse of ALK testing
It was a chore in the beginning but now I have timers everyday at 6:30 am , 5:00 pm and 11 pm to remind me of the testing . Now I actually enjoy doing it !!
