Well I have been away from the hobby for a couple of years and now I am back with a 150 gallon build.
I have always admired Mr Bills setup and now am going to try and emulate his greatness :) with my own equipment room. Working under a stand is beyond tedious and I love the idea of having some room to play this time. I purchased the tank and setup used and went through the pain of buffing out the tank and will reuse the stand which is not great. it is one of those old Tenacore setups where the stand is made from glorified cardboard some water damage had occurred and as a result parts of the stand had expanded like a dry sponge getting wet for the first time. I sanded down the areas and have coated everything with west epoxy which should eliminate any further issues with the stand and hood.

This build will not go quickly as I am trying to acquire all the pieces to get it up and going. now some pics:

Tank going to keep it in the basement :)

Looks like another good build is coming up! What do you have plans for equipment on it?

I recommend putting a vent in that window area. It will really help with humidity.

You're going to use the dehumidifier water for top off? Do you trust it not to contain anything else?

Just an FYI, dehumidifier coils are made of metal, often copper or an alloy thereof. Distilled water (condensate) tends to react quite strongly with metals and will likely give you less than desirable results (like killing all your inverts and corals).

I made the mistake of tasting the water from my dehumidifier once.... It was disgusting. Therefore I would highly recommend that you not use that for top of water.

Before you get the space for the dehumidifier, check out the cost to run vs a vent/fan. I think those dehumidifiers take lots of juice to run.

Not new guy bought it for a 1400 gallon setup and then never completed the build, he even bought a spare pump and cleaning head which came with it so used but zero hours on the unit, I plan on a 1000 gallon system when finally done so it should work out fine.
