So my jawfish grabbed my maxima clam to expand his nest. In the process the maxima became buried and now I can't find it. (It's only about 2".) I'm wondering if it was buried, will it be a goner or could it dig itself out if it wanted to?

Believe me, I have been. I did a thorough search all around the area and no luck. It's not like I have a deep sand bed either.
