    yuck...

The entire wetside was just spinning in the tank, took it apart to clean and found this, no cleaning is going to help this one.

Thank God it's not cheap Chinese garbage, or at least not cheap. I've never had a cheap powerhead rust on me, stop working, yes.

Yes, at least I now know why they sell wet sides as a stand-alone item.

That was next on the list but had to wait for them to open. I did order a new Wetside to get up and running and potentially have a spare that way

I wonder what sort of heavy metals got into your tank after that event.

Had the exact same thing happen to me last year with an MP-40. It was full of rust by the time it malfunctioned, which is a bit concerning, as it suggests it may have been leeching unwanted things into the tank for quite some time.

Do you have some cuprisorb on hand? I have a couple pouches if you need some. Handy for pulling heavy metals out of your water.

On the plus side the tank has been looking good so maybe it was just some needed iron getting released.

A positive is with brs being local I can pick up a replacement on my way home from work today.

Sounds like I have to send it in and they'll send out a new one. Decent customer support is a plus

Glad to hear that they are sending you a replacement. I have always been worried about this happening but I really like the mp40's so its hard to go a different route. Thanks for the update as well on the issue

I will be picking up a replacement for the mp10 today, then when the replacement comes from ecotech it will be a spare just in case. I will have to pick up a spare wetside for mp40 as well just in case since we have a few of those also.

Its nice to have a spare on hand. Especially if you feel lazy and just want to swap it out and let one soak for a bit!

Lol I'm good on frags. I'm losing some to STN because I can't get my nutrients under control.

Lmk if you need a pouch. I use them to pull copper from my qt.

Is there a way on your new one to better seal the seams with glue?

I wouldn't think there is enough clearance inside the housing or they would rattle around.

Although I have been thinking more about going back to the cheap Chinese crap after this. Manufacturer date 2015, so 3 years at $95/year figuring $285 for mp10wqd. The cheap crap has not rusted on me, power supplies seem to go out every 2-3 years at a total of $20/year and no rust in tank.
