Well I have wanted to into saltwater tanks for many years and finally took the plunge. Yesterday I bought a 210 gallon DT and 125 gallon sump along with tons of equipment. The DT is going to be built into an alcove in our basement and sump will be behind the wall in an extension of our laundry room. Having full plumbing right next to the sump should make life easier. It's going to be a week or so before I'm able to actually start cycling the tank, lots of work to do just to get it cleaned, paint the back, and plumbed. Not to mention I need to convince a few guys to help set it on the frame, the ones that volunteered to help pick up the tank didn't realize what they were getting in to. The guy that I bought the tank from is the one who recommended this site, hope to get to a couple of the meetings and start collecting corals soon... or in about two months once the tank has finished cycling.

Welcome to the addiction. Nothing like jumping in with a nice big tank.

The decision to go big was based mostly on two factors. Too many people complain that they started small and should have gone for what they want right off the bat. The other is that it's fairly universally agreed upon that keeping water parameters tight is easier in a large tank vs a small one.

Unfortunately my wife and I already have plans for the 11th and the 25th is my grandma's 90th birthday party. If the zoo count as a meeting we may make that. Hopefully I can keep September free and actually make it to a real meeting.
