Hi Everyone, earlier this year I sold off everything I had including a 140 mixed reef tank and all of the livestock, tools, etc and my Red Sea 45 gallon seahorse tank. Hopefully, my tanks and critters are still going strong with their new owners :) I wanted to paint the walls and needed to finish a small section of flooring, plus work was nuts, so it seemed like the best way to get things done.

Anyway, I thought I would never get back into the hobby, but after being away and now having my house squared away with different furniture, I have decided to get back into it. I now have the perfect place for the Red Sea 650 Peninsula setup and it will be a beautiful addition and will allow for much better viewing and allow me to put the Apex and everything else in the cabinet versus on the wall with my other tanks.

I am keeping this strictly FOWLR setup for a few reasons. One, I have no desire to have the additional complexity and cost of keeping corals anymore and two, I can keep some of the really cool fish I couldn't in my reef tanks. Here is the equipment I have so far and what I plan on stocking it with:

I picked up a 100 gallon livestock bin from Fleet Farm for 80.00 and will be curing the Pukani later this week.

    Hardware
Tank - Red Sea 650 Peninsula in black(NWA - Shipping this week)
Skimmer - Reef Octopus Regal 200SSS(NWA)
    Apex - New version(NWA)
Return Pump - Reef Octopus Varios-6(NWA)
    100lbs Pukani - BRS
    25lbs Shelf Base - BRS
RODI - BRS 4 stage plus 150 GPD
Lights - not sure yet, maybe a couple hydra 26's
Powerheads - still thinking on this one, maybe the Neptune Wav's

    Livestock Plan
    Banana Eel(or maybe a snowflake if I don't want to drop 800)
    Regal Angel
    Goldflake Angel
    Golden Puffer(small one)
    Harlequin Tusk
    Butterfly or two(TBD)
    Niger trigger
    Tiger Cowrie
    Cleaner wrasse
    Skunk shrimp
    Dwarf lion???

Anyway, thanks for reading and look for more updates and pics.

Not to often we get to see a fowler set up!
Since I don't have a fowler can you walk me through the thought process of keeping it a strick fowler vs adding in the free "colorful weed" corals like xenia, mushrooms, gsp, etc.

Nice to see you getting back into it, Michael.
I get jealous every time I hear someone might be getting a Harlequin Tuskfish; my all-time favorite fish!!!

Basically, as much as I like corals, I never had great luck with acros and don't want to mess with corals anymore. The thought is, the less complex I keep the setup, the better off and happier I will be. Additionally, there are some really cool fish I always wanted and couldn't do before.

Even without the corals this sounds like an amazing tank. Can't wait to see it take shape.
