Background...

I started keeping freshwater fish back in 1996 with a 10gal tank that was soon upgraded to a 29gal tank.  I went through different phases, for a while I bred fancy guppies then stocked angles and then cichlids.  It wasn’t until a friend gave me a 55gal tank in March of 2006 that I figured I should try saltwater now that I had a “Big” tank.  So I to the fish store, without researching anything, trusted the “experts” to set me up right.  I walked out with a 50lb bag of crushed coral, a Sea Clone 100 skimmer and a bag of salt.  I did read enough to learn how to cycle a tank but was told just use tap water.  It didn’t take me long to realize I had been totally miss led by the LFS.
My original plan was to do a fish only system, then I found live rock and it became FOWLR.  Up to this point I hadn’t ever even thought of corals.  It wasn’t till I was given a few soft corals from a friend that I really got hooked.  It took about three months to realize: 1. My skimmer sucks. 2. Crushed coral sucks. 3. I NEED A BIGGER TANK!  By August I had my wife convinced I needed a 150gal RR tank.

Water Flow...

I get about 800gph from my return pump, after head pressure.  The rest is supplied from three Tunze Nano 6025s and two 6045.  This seems to be adequate for know but I think I still need more.

Water Supply...

A pump in a five-gallon reservoir next to the tank controlled by a JBJ ATO provides top-off water.  The reservoir is fill by a float switch fed by my RO/DI unit in the basement.
