skimmers... (1 Viewer)

I know the turbo floater is probably the better skimmer. Personally, I have no experience with either skimmers. Maybe someone else who has used the turbo floater hang on the back skimmers can attest to their efficiency. In all honesty I would never use these skimmers unless I had to. If you are strapped for cash then you will probably be fine with these skimmers. Personally, I wouldn't want to set up a tank unless I was doing a sump with an in sump skimmer. Just not a big fan of equipment hanging on the back of my tank.

i have use both skimmer in the past.
TF will be a better skimmer compare to remora, but still not enough to keep 125 happy.

Correct both are undersized if they are on a 125.

Turboflotor that running well and tuned just right at most 75g.

You need to sell both and get one nice skimmer.

this turboflotor is for 75gallons and up 220gallons so its pretty big and its the best one in that brand that i saw so!!

If you believe the manufacturer's rating then I have some ocean front property in St. Paul to sell you......

220g is WAY overrated. 75g at best. I've owned several of them over the years. They are virtually unchanged since 1999 with only improvement being the OR2700 upgrades.

There are so many budget skimmers available such as Octopus that will run circles around that skimmer....

well what kind of skimmer and how big could i get if i traded those or sold them??

Turboflotor may bring you around $90 if it has the ocean runner pump and not the rio. No clue on the Remora.

To get a good bang for the buck skimmer, probably will be in the $250+ range so you will likely have to add some to it.

Of course you can always just be on the lookout for a good used skimmer to save some $$.

Judging from search of old posts: I assume the tank is drilled w/ sump.

There are posts by chef about return pumps, sumps, refugiums.

no the guy who traded me my 55gallon tank for his 125 and all his stuff for it including the remora so, any ways i was woundering what one is the best and would it hurt to run both of them in my 125gall??

first clue...u got a 125 plus all his equipment for your 55 gallon.... honestly put the turbofloater up for sale for 80 bucks... 40-50 for the remora.... then go find used skimmer like an octopus or a bk....

I don't think this guy is looking for a bk.

hes looking for a skimmer is he not? ive been in sales my entire life and i would never show anyone anything unless they took a peek at the best i had to offer, i threw that sugestion out there.. if he decides to go cheaper fine... but he should deffently consider looking into it.... is it alot of money.... yes.... shouldnt he be the one who decides what hes looking for

well im just looking for the step up from my 2 skimmers one that will out do thows but would be fare to trade some one the skimmers for a better one! but what 1 would be better than thows 2 and still be a fare trade??

Very unlikely your going to find someone to trade 2 for 1. Your going to need to sell your 2 and get a new/used one to replace them.

Did you ever clarify if you have a sump on the 125g or does it have to be a hangon ? Hangon choices are very limited and inferior in most cases to in-sump models.
