So what sort of giants over at BRS assemble these RO units?

I cannot for the life of me seem to get the DI canister to unscrew... so I cannot replace my failing medium.

Any suggestions? I am trying to avoid anything that will crack the canister.

bring it in to their warehouse and have them do it, or call them and let them know whats going on

do you have the tool? If the unit is mounted to the wall a sharp tap of the tool sometimes knocks them loose. Otherwise give them a call and see. I know they stand behind their products.

ya my di canister was like that too. had to have someone help hold on to break it loose.

It is not attached to the wall, and I have the white "wrench" that came with the RO Unit.

And I was kinda hoping to get the medium changed out today, so taking it over to them is not really an option. I will try some sharp taps and see if that helps. Otherwise, maybe I will be attaching it to the wall :)

Be sure your twisting the right direction. If your looking at it from the top you actually go clockwise becuase the threads are upside down.

Yup I was going clockwise when viewed from the top. I did check that quite a few times :)

If you can mount it, the always makes it easier. I know I've had lot more trouble when not mounted to hold it still enough to apply the pressure.

Lastly, what about finding a pipe around the house to put the end of the wrench in to get a bit more leverage.....just like with stubborn bolts on a car.

I have seen more than a couple threads out there noting this very same issue

I had the same trouble with mine - throw some more torque on it with a pipe or something like Dave noted or trying some light tapping with a hammer?

Oh I finally got it. I just accepted that I was not about to break it and pushed!
