The back will remain the way it is, clean starfire. If the wife bugs me about the background... I have a peice of black HDPE sheet that will slide right in and out.

When I get to the point I plan to use some very low intensity diffused lighting to create an impression of depth. with the current T5's it is visible but in this pic I didnt try hard to capture what I see

Here's a pic of the previous tank when I started off, because of the overflow boxes I decided to add a background

I love the aquascaping!! Are you going to do something to hide all the wires?

most of the wires have been moved or will be moved. Once I have this all done and wrapped up the only things visible would be the powerheads, the plumbing on the left side which I hope will be easily camouflaged by some nice SPS like a Green slimer :beerchug:

I need some thoughts and ideas here, so our basement is unfinished and in the winter the concrete gets cold. I'm looking for an economical way of insulating the area, either all of it or some of it without actually "finishing" it. cant afford more taxes.

This I think will also help in the spring/early summer when its warm/humid outside but the walls are still cold. which means a LOT of condensation.. too much for my comfort.

I'm thinking maybe get some foam insulation for the walls and maybe some type of carpet for the floor. any place where I can go shopping for deals?

I dealt with similar issues...
I would recommend using the polystyrene foamboard and tuck tape the joints. . You can also use it on the floor and then drop plywood subfloor over the top. Will make a huge difference. It is not exactly cheap, but you don't need to tear out to finish the basement.
