i.d. needed, apstasia or zoas? (1 Viewer)

Probs kalk paste or something. If they don't reproduce from basal cells like aiptasia, you could just scrape them off.

Yep Like Adeeb says. Get a cup of kalkwasser, add just enough water to mix and stay as thick as you can and still get it pass through your syringe. Nuke the paste for about 20 seconds in the microwave to get nice and hot. Turn off all powerheads for overnight leaving only the return pump. Put the paste directly on the disk then liberally all over that portion of the rock. The paste will harden on the rock and slowly dissolve away over the next few days.

It may not get all of them in the very first pass depending on if some close up before you can get it placed on the disk. Ideally you can do this out of the water too and let the paste dry on the areas.

Not as absolute or as easy as nuking the whole rock but it will work.

Would it be possible to get some on a frag plug before i paste/nuke them, that way i can control there growth? just in case?

well what if they are a zoa or pally your just telling him to kill them i thought we where about saving the reefs not killing them

Just in case what ? Just in case you want to keep them ? Not sure why you would want them.
Ya just in case I would like to keep them, there not ugly there just different. besides seems there is interest in them already. lol

+1. There are hundreds of stunning zoanthids and palythoas out there, so it's a bit difficult to understand why you would want to keep such bland specimens. I personally consider them pretty darn ugly, and don't really think you could pay me to put them in my tank.

And Aaron, if something grows as easily as all the random brown zoanthids and palythoas and whatever the heck that is, it's obviously not going to be in danger of extinction any time soon. So don't worry about if they are killed off or not.

So I can't tell from the picture as it's not close enough, are they connected or each individual ?

they are all individual polyps not on a matte of any kind, but they are all clustered together, each individual polyp is about 1 cm away from other polyps

David I know I have been rude to you in the past and i apologize, you are a very informative source and it was rude of me to be disrespectful, I really do appreciate the help you have given me and thank you for not being a jerk to me like i was to you. I am sorry, it has been bugging me for a while now.

That rules out the paly possibility. My bet is on pest anemones.

That's funny I never noticed. I don't let anything on the boards bother me in the least. Now if a jerk in person at a meeting or something that's totally different.
