I have a 20 gallon Nano tank that has been running for over 3 years. It has been taken down twice due to deployments and moves but is soon to be retired and upgraded to a new to me 75 gallon system I will be building!! I have had a 55 gallon reef tank but crashed on a deployment so my upgrade to a 75 is a very exciting adventure to come!
The current setup is a 20 gallon tall aquarium with a 10 gallon refugium shoehorned into the bottom of the stand length wise. I have a cheap aquatraders metal halide setup that is working great form my needs, a hang on type overflow, going to my 10 gallon sump with a CPR Bak Pak skimmer and a Rio 3100 dialed down for my return. I have a Maxijet 1200 for a power head and flow is working out pretty well in the tank. the sump is divided into three sections. The intake area has a filter sock and the HOB skimmer, the middle is where my refugium is with live sand, rock rubble, and grape caulerpa algae for nutrient export.
