The convention center has the MN craft beer festival on the same day. Would make for an interesting combo. :D

As it is I have to choose between two of my hobbies. Unfortunately 3 hours of unlimited "tasting" wins out.

Who’s letting you drink their tank water???
Or do you prefer a more stout draught; skimmate?

I've heard rumors that @Flounder pays $20 for someone to drink skimmate.

FYI, currently nothing has changed but we are monitoring the situation and we will certainly message again if things change and we decide to hold off regarding the expo.

Until then we have/will be in contact with the venue and vendors.

The board met tonight to discuss 'Operation Corona'.

Long short of it is this... it's still a ways off, there's too much to decipher between the BS and fact, or perceived fact. Vendors are on board to continue so until there is fundamental change the show will go on.

Not everyone will be comfortable with this, that's fine as attendance isn't mandatory. ;)

Naturally this is fluid... there will be no postponing. If it's necessary to cancel we will but the online swap will happen no matter what. The non refundable table fee will be returned to vendors that paid if this happens and emails have/will be going out if they have more questions. Straight up, we appreciate them and it's only right for all they do for us all.

House meetings are at the hosts discretion and of course they can reschedule. Keep current on any get togethers you were hoping to make. Thanks again to those hosts... you're what helps make local reefing fun, personable, and real for the rest of us.

This will be the final update for the Spring Expo:

The Venue has chosen to cancel all events until June. As mentioned before we will not be rescheduling this but will open up the Pre-Sales forum per normal for those wanting to participate.

It's been a pleasure to host this event for the community and as one of our single largest fundraisers this is a tough one. However, the current board and members have made great strides these past few years and 2020 isn't going to hinder that... we choose to make it great

    Few items to note:
    1. We've been holding fun monthly contests and will continue to do so, come check them out!
    2. Some of our sponsors may decide to do some special events though the forum in the coming weeks/months.
    3. *Please* don't forget to support your local stores during this time, online or in person.
    4. While you are locked up in your homes or place of work be sure to hit up our forum... if we're all stuck we might as well have fun with what we enjoy!
A fellow member said it best, 'This is not a club, it's a small group of friends who have been around for years helping each other out through this wonderful addition'. So don't be a stranger and stop by!

I look forward to hearing from you all soon and expect this fall to be a blowout!

Such a bummer but the right decision I think.

If anyone is interested, I personally will still make the trip up to the cities(as long as the gov still allows it at that time) on that day and will post a pre-sale thread approx. 2 weeks before the swap. It will probably be paypal transactions or trades only but we'll see. Stay safe and wash your hands.

I was expecting this news to come to fruition so I had been thinking about another possibility; not an exact replacement but something to bring the club together.

There is the MBI Conference in July at Augsburg University. What if TCMAS was to host something that same weekend?
Foremost, I don't want to step on the toes of the MBI Conference and those people involved making that event happen; especially as this is the first year that it is being hosted here in The Cities.

Whether TCMAS tries to organize a small "expo-like" event with local vendors/members that are losing out from the Spring Expo cancellation or it's just a ramped up monthly meeting where people can meet to swap/sell corals without a designated service venue. I'm sure that the MBI Conference will have most of the weekend planned with speakers, dinners, raffles and what not, but it might be worth a shot for TCMAS to add to the event somehow with some vendors. It's not like we'd be pulling in a lot of vendors as the Greater Niagra Coral Show 2020 was moved to that same weekend.

As I stated, I don't want to step on the toes of the MBI Conference and those involved, but it might be worth asking what they think about adding something more to that weekend. Think of it as a trial run for TCMAS to host a future MACNA event!

Not surprised, just disappointed like everyone else. Thanks anyway to the event committee for all their hard work.

Well I guess I saw this coming...Nick...but it's a sad day to have this cancelled. I like Jason's idea, maybe we could run this thing at Augsburg during that event. In the meantime, I'm just thinking about how I could even do the online sales. I really don't want to invite people inside of my house to get corals. I suppose we could do WYSYG online and then deliver them at the door outside our homes.
