I just ordered the 5" mini reactor from BRS with a MJ1200 pump. I plan to run a mixture of Carbon and GFO in it. What is the current thinking of where the input and output should be? Input in skimmer chamber of sump and output in return pump chamber? Both in the same chamber? Does it matter?

if anything, I would put the output of the reactor "downstream" of the input just like your example, pull water from the skimmer chamber, and return water to the return pump chamber. That way just-filtered water isn't being put back through the reactor.

If you're running any GFO in the reactor, place the outlet right into the area of the skimmer feed pump. If any residue(fines) from the GFO escapes the reactor, the skimmer will have a chance pull them from the water before getting to the return pump and sent into your display.
Having GFO fines getting into your display is not good; I know.

There will only be 1/4 cup of GFO in the reactor mixed with 1/2 cup of carbon, but I see the concern. My skimmer chamber is large enough that I should be able to place the inlet fairly far away and close to where the water comes in from the overflow, and the outlet right by the skimmer intake. Thanks!

I have been running my out put into the skimmer area as well, keeps the sump floor clean of GFO fallout.
