So I bought a 60 gallon cube a couple months ago and upon removing it from the house I got it from the bottom pane cracked..so I've been searching for a new one. Well today is our Christmas day due to the stepdaughter going to her dads tonight. Anyways the wife got me a awesome Christmas present....a new 60 gallon cube RR tank! Also a Milwaukee digital salinity reader. I'm soooo happy. So starting next weekend I'll start posting pics of the custom stand. Also found a 12 gallon nano cube dx for 25 bucks! Will be my quarantine tank. As I get to building the stand I will have a few questions as far as sealing the top and so forth. But for now I got the tank and stay up late now thinking about what I wanna do with it. Well off to do some family stuff.

Have a great day everyone and incase I'm busy tomorrow Merry Christmas to all![IMG]

Merry Christmas. Does the Millenium Falcon mean you're doing a themed tank?

Question for you all. Do I got all this rock out of a established tank. Read a few posts that said tap water with the dechlorination and salt would be ok. But now more I look into it it was one of the worst things I could do? Will this rock ever be usable again? Like dry it out and cure it with ro/di water and salt? Or is it just trash now? It's really cool looking rock.

I soaked all of my rock in bleach water for three days to kill everything and start fresh. Afterwards I rinsed with rod water then soaked for 3 days in rodi water. Lastly I left it lay in the sun for two days to off gas any chlorine left. If you do this to your rock will be good to go in your tank and 100% pest free.

Thank you! I will empty out the barrel and go by some bleach. I'll do a little work to avoid 170 in rock. But dont get me wrong. If saving 170 will give me night terrors later I'll spend it. Lol

I didn't bother with rodi on ours, did the bleach bath, followed by dechlorinator soak followed by dry.

Now just Clorox bleach works? Or is there a better kind?

Chlorox is fine but so is the cheap stuff at Costco.

Cool. Gonna go grab some and start the soak today. I have time. Only problem is the sitting it out in the sun when it's cold. Lol. I've got time. I'm building a custom stand for it and laying wood flooring before it gets filled. Hoping to see water in it and cycling by Feb or March.

After bleach add some dechlorinator to the rinse soak. That should cover you.

Congrats on the great gifts! That digital refractometer has been on my wish list for quite a while.
Going the bleach route followed up with dechlorinator is a great way to reclaim old rock; especially if it looks cool.

    Good luck with your build!

Thanks guys. Hopefully next weekend I'll be posting the pics of me building the stand. Talked the wife into building a bigger stand for its gonna be in the dining room and she wants more storage. So building a 6foot long stand slash cabinet. Relived some pressure on me as I was going to have to figure out how to get everything I wanted Into a 2 by 2 area. Now I will have plenty of room for sump with fuge, ato and shelving for other items.

I can smell the fresh-cut pine from here.
I enjoy seeing new builds come together, but my back says "build a work bench first!" ;)

Ok so been a month or so. Gonna get the siding done this weekend and just got my sump and ato tank from brs. (will post pics when i get home and open them). So i do have a question. now this tank comes with 1 pipe to sump and 1 return. Does anyone recommend using them both as drains and adding a return on the outside of the tank so i have 1 main drain and a backup? or is there not really any concerns on this type of tank that the drain will get plugged and stop draining?

So as i look at this new sump i realize that it goes refugium then skimmer then return.. its the triton26 v2 sump. Everything i see and common sense says it should be skimmer then fuge then return. Whats your thoughts? should i return it? i really hate to as i got it half off.
