Any input on how to lower my pH? I've put as many mouth breathers in here as I can but my pH stays too high and thus my kalk doesn't run enough.

Shuts off at 8.35 and it's going to 8.5 every night. I no longer have cheto, frag light was moved to the day, dosing vibrant, not much else happening that I can tell.

Lol I've seen this thread before. I couldn't find any problems associated with a high pH

There actually is a problem now... my kalk can't keep up. I think I'll be raising my pH but I still...

Add vingar or citric acid with your kalk?

I have enough evap for my kalk to 'run longer' I just don't have a low enough pH (IMO) for it to run as much as it should. I guess I can push my cut off to 8.4 and see how it goes.

    What about dosing CO2?

I've always had a pretty light fish load. I wonder how much CO2 a fish can give off...

With my nitrates and phosphate currently at zero or near that could be affecting it as well since the breaking down of waste binds/uses oxygen. Since it appears I have a lack of waste maybe that's contributing.

Sounds like a good excuse to add some fish.

So I missed an obvious... it's suggested to calibrate a pH probe once a year by the makers for normal salt levels on a continuous use probe under 2yrs old and that's worked well until now.

Recalibrated my two probes and found both drifted in unison so my pH was actually 8.2 and not 8.45. This led to my element delivery from my kalk being low so CA and Alk are not keeping up.

I figure I got 8mo out of my probe before the drift became too great so I'll start doing 6mo calibrations give how critical it is.

I've been doing mine every 2 months. Fluid is cheap and it takes maybe 10 minutes to soak in some citric acid, brush, rinse and calibrate.

Just be really careful when you brush. Most places state that you shouldn't and just to shake vigorously.

I was planning to calibrate at the start of the new year but I haven't done so yet.
@DarkSky I've recalibrated multiple times but I've only just cleaned my probe with water. Do you find a good citric acid soak necessary? Or just a "while I'm cleaning it, I might as well clean it" step?

By the way... I've noticed that my pH level will drop about 0.04 points when my scrubber lights turn off in the morning.

I would say I wish I had. There was a snail growing on it.

I do that to remove those tiny spiral snail shells from the outside, and to clarify I don't brush the tip, just the shaft of the pH probe.

Use the same concentration as cleaning everything else then?
