Hey guys,
I previously had a 46 bow that I've kept for two years then parted it out when I moved. Right now I have a 5.5 gal filled with frags and base rock but the other day a brand new 40 breeder fell into my hands for free and I thought I'd give it a go but had a couple questions I hope you all could help with.
tank 40 breeder (36x18x16) - not drilled and not running a sump
- 1'' argonite sand bed
- 10 - 15 lbs live rock
- 30 - 25 lbs base rock
- plan for inhabitants
- two clowns (no anemone)
- as many blue green chromis as i can keep along with the two clowns
- 8 super tongan nassarius snails
- 8 trochus snails
- 8 margarita snails
- 6 hermet crabs
- 1 skarlet skunk cleaner
filtration
- Hydor Slim Skim - in tank skimmer
- Says that it's almost 18'' tall which is 2'' taller than my tank, will that work?
lighting
- opt 1: 36'' 6x39w sunlight supply tek light t5 h.o.
- 5.85 watts/gallon, will this overkill the tank? also if this isn't overkill, would it be enough to have house sps and lps corals?
- opt 2: 36'' 4x39w coralife lunar aqualight t5 h.o.
- this is my second choice if opt 1 is overkill for the tank, would like to know if this could house sps and lps corals as well.
flow
- 1 maxi-jet 1200 (295 gph)
- 1 hydor k evo (750 gph)
- this is 26 times turnover, would this be overkill for flow? i would like to add another power head for 300-750 gph if i can.
heating
- 2x 200 watt heaters (i've always bought the stealth heater but they've been recalled. any suggestions on good quality heaters?)
I'm planning to get a ro/di system for the tank and for drinking. I was thinking about the 75 GPD RO/DI 5 stage drinking and reef water system from BRS but I've never used a ro/di system before. Will this be a good fit for what I'm planning to use it for? I haven't bought any of the items yet so if there are better alternatives that won't cost alot more than what' I have listed I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.
