Guess I should be happy but how do people lower their pH? It's either that or change my parameters for alarms...

Are you dosing kalk or alk? What's you alkalinity at? Assuming you have and air exchanger so oxygen levels are probably high which is why your ph is up there a bit.

Kalk but it hasn't dosed any in 2 days cause my alk is higher than I want at 10.5dkh. And of course air exchanger with the amount of water in the house.

The only change was I upgraded the ats On 11/20 when pH started to rise... Maybe I gotta back off the ats lighting. Looking at the graph that's when it started it's constant rise also.

Just read something by Randy Holmes Farley saying he ran at 8.55 for a few years with no ill effects.

Big water change with Instant Ocean or one that has a low PH and alk content.

Are you doing 2 teaspoons per gallon on the kalk?? You can always reduce that if it's adding too much..

    Host a party.

Dump club soda or vinegar in your tank.

Change your alarms to alert at 8.6 ph

I did change the alarm (couldn't take the constant texts) and took a couple hours a night off the ats since that seems to be when the constant rise started.

Yes but it is only dosed 200ml per hour and only if alk under 10.4 (trident) so none has gone on for a few days.

I would give my right index finger for that ph level.

I just know the belief seems to be pH for a reef tank should be 7.8-8.5. Hard to find info on how bad higher is

The higher ph rises the harder it is to rise higher (i.e. easier for it to move from 8.4 to 8.5 than from 8.5 to 8.6). I’d be surprised if it went higher than 8.5 but then again I don’t know the whole story so we’ll see :)

Maybe ph probe needs to be recalibrated?

I think it's this beast of a turf scrubber, the pH starts rising just after midnight. Lights on the tank don't really start firing up until noon, I don't have any other way to explain the rise starting so early there has been no kalk added since the morning of the 21st.

When is the last time you calibrated your pH probe? Is it dual junction? Do you run a grounding probe?

Is been a while, yes dual junction, no grounding probe. It's still following the daily swings, they just aren't getting as low anymore. Guess I see a calibration in my future

I was getting those kind of pH numbers until I calibrated, they dropped about .1 after that.

My pH jumps at night when my fuge light is on. Plants and Algae can use up a lot of CO2 raising pH. In my planted tank, I have to dose CO2 to keep up. I set up on/off cycles with my fuge light to try to keep my pH more stable over night.

You could also start talking to your fish more.
